New Delhi: The wait for satellite internet in India is finally over. Elon Musk's company Starlink has officially announced its entry into the Indian market. The company has also made a separate website live for India, in which complete information related to plans, prices, and services is given. In rural areas where mobile networks and broadband access are still weak, Starlink is emerging as a big hope.
Starlink's residential plan is priced at Rs 8,600 per month. This will be a plan with a validity of one month. The most interesting thing is that new customers will get a 30-day free trial. If you do not like the service, the company will refund the full amount. This facility is being seen for the first time in satellite internet service.
To start the service, customers will have to purchase a one-time hardware kit. Its price is around ₹36,000. This will include a Starlink dish, a WiFi router, and necessary setup equipment.
The company claims that:
The user simply has to install the dish and plug it into power. The connection becomes active automatically. This is why this technology can prove to be a game-changer in remote villages, hilly areas, and homes deprived of broadband.
Starlink has received the necessary approval from the Government of India to start services. The company was waiting for permission for the last two years. Now that the way is cleared, it will be interesting to see how many Indian customers adopt this service, because the price is much higher than normal broadband services.
